Guilty Pleasures – Standon ’10

Hello! We’re getting lots of lovely feedback for our work at Standon this year. Thanks very much!   “…an artfully executed game of whodunnit… …a Sherlock meets The League of Gentlemen special… …brilliantly bizarre.” NME Magazine, 21st August 2010 (Link)   “…forward-thinking theatre pioneers The Heritage Arts Company bring to life this year’s mandate… with a fulfilling narrative that runs across the festival’s three days and draws you in, demanding your involvement.” Amir Adhamy, sound-screen.co.uk, 2010 (Link) “The incredible Heritage Arts Company played an even bigger part this year by constructing a temporary street where interactive theatre ran all weekend after Friday’s kidnap of Lord Bingham. Who kidnapped him? Was it a hoax? Thinking caps on…” Jen Soame, remotegoat.co.uk, 2010 (Link)   “…the festival finds its identity in its eccentricities, from the fake currency – Binghams – and the secret passages linking the tailors to the bank… it’s staggeringly easy to get lost within its attractions, from solving a mystery to painting portraits, so much so that it’s a struggle to find time to see any music.” Christian Cottingham, festivals.musicomh.com, 2010 (Link)   If you want to add your own thoughts and comments, drop us an email or head over to our shiny-new Facebook page. Standon Called

Hello, So there we go. Standon Calling all over for another year. As ever, a really big thank you to everyone who took part in our show this year, The Guilt Façade, we had an absolute blast doing it and hope it added to your no-doubt already-wonderful festival experience. An equally big thank you to Jon and everyone on the Standon crew; they did an exceptional job, and were great fun to be around. For those of you who missed it, well, unlucky for you – head on over to the The Guilt Façade, portfolio page and have a look at some videos and pictures, and a full description of the event. We went big this year – five times the size of last year – and it was an amazing ride. Whenever we sit down to plan a one-off event like this, we always have to confront the question of human beings – loads of them – all coming together to have an upside-down, inside-out, carnival of misrule kind of fun time, for just a few short hours. There’s always a worry that there’ll be so much going on, and people will be trying to pack so much into their Standon Calling experience, that they just might not have time for something as involved as we had planned. This year, though, our persistence and belief that the Standon Calling crowd is unlike any other really paid off. Those Bingham’s were flying – we never did get to find out who got the most. Drop us a line and let us know how many you collected. To everyone who...

Bingham Trust & Standon Calling Launch

Come down to the Cobden Club in West London on Friday the 28th of May to be a part of the Standon Calling 2010 launch party. A collaboration between Standon, Heritage Arts and the Great Brain Robbery, the night promises great music, loads of live acts, and our personal favourite, an exclusive chance to meet the mysterious billionaire Lord Dick Bingham as he launches his new British ultra-bank: The Bingham Trust. Now, there have been questions raised about Bingham’s legitimacy by the journalist/amateur sleuth Hunter Wakefield, who promises to be in attendance and grilling Bingham for all he’s worth (which is a considerable amount). Adding glamour to the event will be the beautiful Katherine J. Alibhai, gallery owner and underground art dealer, who (rumour has it) has some connection with Bingham and his riches. Come down and meet this host of shady individuals, get a taste of what the Bingham Trust has to offer you and your kin this Summer, and get in on the ground floor for the only festival this summer to present a living narrative community to shakedown and party with: Standon Calling 2010. Admission £5. For details, check out the flyer below: [singlepic id=125 w=320 h=240...

Standon Calling 2010

We’re very excited to be working with the Standon Calling crew again for this year’s festival. Tim & I have just come back from a great planning weekend with the creative team, and this year is shaping up to be something really special. I don’t want to give too much away yet, but if you’ve enjoyed the event before, this one is going to give you the shivers. The theme is Murder on the Standon Express. Expect outlaw high-jinks, gilded gangsters, sentimental skulduggery and some really criminal puns. The line-up is awesome in more ways than one. See you there. Mat             P.S ….and who’s this Bingham guy I keep hearing...

Radio S-HAC – Emerging

Now, this one’s a bit bizarre.   We’ve been receiving some rather strange radio transmissions here the Heritage Arts pen-tower. They’re a little garbled, a little fuzzy, and they’re coming from everywhere. We’ve picked up snippets of great speeches… haunting, untranslated chanting… snatches of pub conversations… musical folktales… in fact, a real earful of stuff apparently from anywhere, and anywhen.   What could this mean? Are the rumours of the Radio S-HAC true? Could we really be receiving transmissions from reporters on the scene at events across time and space?   Surely, this is impossible?  ...
