We’re very proud to announce that we’re working with Nicolas Kent, the polymath and dedicated sabre-rattler who ran Kilburn’s Tricycle Theatre for many years, on a new play by Rashid Razaq: The Nightmares of Carlos Fuentes, based on the acclaimed short story by Hassan Blasim.
Nick’s chosen a really interesting play, taking some apparently familiar scenes and injecting them with surreal, challenging, and funny ideas. We didn’t know what to make of it on first reading, but his choices, and our meetings with the cast and creative team are leading us to think this is going to be a really great production.
Nabil Elouahabi plays the lead – a refugee with a very funny idea of identity. The play goes from funny to tragic very quickly and Ellan Parry’s design is going to fit really well in the new Arcola space.
We run from July 23rd to August 16th and you can book tickets here. Do come along – Nick is one of the most interesting and topical directors we’ve worked with and this promises to be a very entertaining evening.
See you there!
