Folk In A Box

Inspired by a collaboration between the Heritage Arts Company and musician Johnny Flynn, Folk In A Box is an independent production, touring with a collective of musicians outside the HAC. This box, made of reclaimed wood and materials, can be put up anywhere, and allows just one audience member in at a time. As the door closes, the black walls play with perception of space; they forget where the box ends. The room is dark, except for a flickering lamp, which shines dimly on a solitary performer, who sings them one song. To begin with the audience member sees very little, but as the performer plays, their eyes begin to adjust to the light. Like a Polaroid, gradually developing, it’s simple, but incredibly effective.
Performers include Dom Coyote, Emily Barker, Frank Doody, Pepe Belmonte, Johnny Flynn and Adeel Akhtar, plus special guests, and new members.
